Common surgical dressings used in wound care include collagen, foam, hydrogel, and gauze.  There are other options as well.  Wound care providers can choose to purchase these dressings, dispense them when medically necessary, and submit coding for these products to third party payers.  There are many advantages associated with participating in this program.  These include getting patients the items they need at the point of care and avoiding the potential pitfalls associated with prescribing products, including unwanted substitutions.  This session will cover the coding, compliance, and documentation considerations associated with dispensing surgical dressings.  Providers already dispensing surgical dressings can use this content to ensure they are compliant and providers not already dispensing surgical dressings can use this content to get started!
